Benjamin Afutu Kotey is a player for 2020-21 Ghana Premier League winners, Accra Hearts of Oak SC is one of the most unsung players in the league this season.
The midfield-maestro has been a pivot and a consistent performer for the Rainbow Boys but receives little or no plaudits for his enormous work ethics in midfield for the league champions.
Afutu, this season has not only controlled the middle part of the field for Hearts but has also been the most reliable midfielder in the club’s success in the domestic competitions, providing a masterclass performance in every single games he’s played.
With his primary duty being mostly sitting in front of the defense and protecting the back four, he has also managed to put in some impressive performance bagging important goals and providing crucial assists too.
The 25-year-old has scored five goals in the ongoing 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season for the Phobians, helping them to lift their first top-flight trophy since 2009.
Afutu has also provided three assists to take his total goal contribution total to 8 this campaign but has barely received appraisals for his hard work.
The midfielder has been named Man-Of-The-Match twice this season and has played more minutes than all the midfielders of the title-winning Hearts of Oak.
With his stellar display and commitment coupled with his great work ethics this season, one would not be mistaken to advocate for the Hearts midfield maestro’s inclusion in the Black Stars.
The midfielder’s current deal with hearts of Oak is due but is expected to renew his contract with the Phobians for their 2021-22 CAF Champions League campaign.
