Chief Executive Officer for Hassacas Ladies, Evelyn Nsiah Asare Owusu says women’s football should be given the needed attention and development than that of men’s football.
Her comments follows Hassacas Ladies’ performances in the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League. The Hasmal Ladies after winning the 2020/2021 season of the Ghana Women’s Premier League went on to win the WAFU Zone B Women’s Championship after beating Nigerian giants, Rivers Angels.
Yusif Bassigi’s ladies defied all odds to reach the finals of the Champions League but where beaten by Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0.
According to the Asante Kotoko board member, women’s football can give Ghana the best results compared to men’s football thus, development geared towards football should be the priority.
“We need to do a lot for women’s football if we want to progress. I think it is better developing women’s football in Ghana here than the men. I don’t want to be a prophet of doom but i don’t see Black Stars lifting the African Championship or the World Championship but the Black Queens can.” she said as reported by starrfm.com.gh.
According to her, the development of Women’s football can be done through the clubs with the other national teams also benefiting.
“You develop the Black Queens through the clubs so if the clubs are developed, we will have a very formidable side. U-17 will be good, U-20 will be good and they finish up with the Queens because it is a progressive stage.” She said.
Hassacas Ladies arrived in Ghana yesterday and would be participating in the Women’s Super Cup competition which starts on 25th November 2021.
