Inter Allies continued their fine form as we approach the end of the 2015-16 League season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Liberty Professionals at the Tema Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Frederick Boateng converted his 9th goal of the season from the spot in the 72nd minute to seal victory for Inter Allies in their final home game of the season.
Coach Jimmy maintained the same starting line up as he made no changes to the side that beat Dreams FC 1-0 on Sunday in Dawu.
Liberty were slightly ahead after the blast of the referee’s whistle, they took the game to Inter Allies with the likes of Latif Blessing and Samuel Annan starting well.
However, after several minutes of sitting back, Inter Allies fought back into the game and could have scored in the first half but it took Eric Andoh, goalkeeper of Liberty to deny Inter Allies of several opportunities.
Despite a lot exciting moments and actions in the first half, it ended barren with both sides failing to find the back of the net.
It was a total different story in the second half, Inter Allies who knew the danger of dropping points came in very strongly and dominated most areas on the field.
Inter Allies were awarded a penalty in the 70th minute, Enoch Adu’s cross from the right flank was handled by a Liberty defender in the box, making it less difficult for the referee to point to the spot.
Frederick Boateng elected himself and slotted home his 9th goal of the season, sending the goalkeeper Eric Andoh the wrong way in the 72nd minute.
Liberty were later reduced to 10 men after Simon Zibo was sent off in the 89th minute for a second bookable offense.
The ‘Eleven Is To One’ held on to the slender lead and finished the final home game of the season with a win.
