Head coach of the Black Stars Otto Addo says he does not see the game against Uruguay as a revenge despite calls from Ghanaians to approach the game with such intention.
The Black Stars missed out on an opportunity to become the first African country to advance to the semifinals of the World Cup after Luis Suarez denied the team with his hand in the dying embers of the quarterfinal game in 2010.
Though Ghana had an opportunity to seal victory from the penalty spot, Asamoah Gyan’s effort came off the crossbar with the Black Stars losing on penalties.
Ahead of Friday’s final group game which could determine who joins Portugal to the next stage of the competition, Ghana’s gaffer says the intention is not to revenge something that happened 12 years ago.
“I’m not thinking too much about revenge because for me it’s just a normal game,” he told the Ghanafa.org.
“Surely I was really sad when I watched the scene in 2010. It was a big chance for Ghana to proceed to the next stage but it happened 12 years ago.”
The Black Stars final group game is scheduled for Friday, December 2, at the Al Janoub Stadium with kickoff at 3PM.
