Former Ghana coach Otto Addo has advised anyone who will take over as the new head coach of the Black Stars must be confident to execute his ideas regardless of the pressure he may receive.
The scout trainer and development coach of Borussia Dortmund stepped down from his role as the gaffer of the national team following the team’s elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup after losing to Uruguay in their final group on Friday, December 2.
Ghana lost 2-0 in their final Group H game on December 2nd against Uruguay when they needed just a draw to qualify for the next round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar.
But that result proved far from beyond the rich of the Black Stars as they suffered a 2-0 defeat with the 48-year-old announcing his resignation during his post-match press conference.
“Be himself, fulfil his ideas no matter who tries to come between but he should listen to his coaching staff, take advice and if there is anything I can do to help, I am always there,” he said.
“I will give advice and help my motherland. [He] should not listen to negativity too much, be fearless.”
Ghana got eliminated from the competition as a result of their failure to beat or draw against Uruguay.
Ghana must find themselves a new head coach after Otto Addo’s departure for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
