Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has confirmed that Samuel Osei Kuffour has resigned as a member of the Black Stars management committee.
According to reports, the former Bayern Munich centre-back has stepped down from his role.
In an interview with Max FM in Accra, Twum disclosed that Kuffour submitted his resignation before the 2023 African Cup of Nations doubleheader qualifiers against Angola, stating that he wants to concentrate on his responsibilities at the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG).
“It’s true that Sammy Kuffour has resigned as a Black Stars management committee member. He resigned before the game against Angola,” he told Accra-based Max FM.
“He told the GFA that he wants to focus on his duties at the PFAG (Professional Footballers Association of Ghana),” he added.
Kuffour played 53 games for the Black Stars between 1993 and 2006, and was a part of the squad that qualified Ghana for its first-ever World Cup appearance in Germany in 2006.
