Th majority leader in parliament, Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu, says President Akuffo Addo did nothing wrong in disclosing to Ghanaians that he has forgotten about the Justice Dzamefe commission of enquiry report.
The commission of enquiry was brought to bear to probe the Black Stars shambolic participation at the Brazil 2014 World Cup competition where a huge amount of money was flown there at time confusion had visited the Black Stars camp over their unpaid winning bonuses and appearance fees.
The whole country as at that time went gun-blazing over the disgraceful act, suspecting a foul-play and mismanagement of resources.
Mr John Dramani Mahama, then President had to set a commission enquiry to establish the root of the matter but the commission’s recommendations are yet to be implemented by President Akufo-Addo after ex- President the NDC government had failed to do so.
The shocking revelations which came up during the commission’s sitting compelled the then President to reshuffle his sports minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah to the Presidency at the Flagstaff house.
Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu who also doubles as the leader for government Business in parliament speaking on Angel in the morning to Kumasi based Angel FM over the worrying issue to Ghanaians after the president during his encounter with the press disclosed he had forgotten about the matter when asked what his outfit intended to doing with the white paper.
He says ”The President did no wrong in telling the nation he had forgotten about the white paper saga”.
“Myself if you’re to ask me of where we’ve gotten to with issues relating to the white paper I will not be able to tell you vividly where we’ve currently gotten to with its dealings but will ask of you to give me some time to refer and get back you. Which is the truth being sincere with you right now,” he noted.
“It always beats my imagination till date the sought of accusations levelled against the President as at that time. The harshy words from Ghanaians towards him were far, too many in the sense that the fact that he’s the President doesn’t make him to know everything off head”.
“I find it very difficult to understand why Ghanaians wanted the President to answer what he knows about the white because he’s the head of the state”.
“Don’t we as citizens of the nation want the truth rather than lies,” he quizzed.
“He being the President can’t be on top of every issues at a time,” he concluded.
