WAFA head coach Klass Rasmussen is Adamant he’s satisfied with his sides 1-1 draw in the opening game at home to giants Asante Kotoko. The Academy boys went ahead after Aminu curled in a brilliant freekick but were pegged back half way through the first half.
Rasmussen who saw his young side do all they can to win the match but failed was happy with the efforts his lads showed. Speaking at the post match press conference he admitted his disappointment at the final results but then again was quick to add he was not happy but satisfied.
He said, “first game of the season, first home game. It’s always going to be difficult for us and this is a new team, a very young team so I’m satisfied with the point. I was a little bit disappointed we couldn’t get the 3 points because we had the chances to but in my point of view they (Kotoko) are one of the top favorites to win the league so in that perspective I’m happy about it.”
On Kotoko’s first goal at Sogakope, Rasmussen attributed that to being a new game. He suggested, every game (the same opponent) is a new game and we can’t compare this. In my point of view they scored a lucky goal and there’s nothing we could have done about that.”
WAFA have lost a large number of first team players with most seeking greener pastures abroad and a few sold to their local rivals. Ex captain Gideon Waja, Majid Ashimeru, Razak Abalora, Komlan Agbeniagan amongst others left the shores of Ghana. Antwi and Caleb Amankwah to Inter Allies and Aduana Stars respectively. Asked if that has affected the team’s rhythm and plans. He admitted, “I’ve lost 16 players and I honestly don’t want to compare teams, and won’t compare this my current boys to those left but we can try our best to compete and I’m happy about the adventure ahead with these boys.”
