Former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Opoku Nti, has issued a stern warning to Hearts of Oak ahead of their upcoming Democracy Cup match, stating that the Porcupine Warriors are poised to snatch a historic third consecutive win over their arch-rivals.
The two sides will clash in the first Democracy Cup match on Wednesday, July 17, at 18:00GMT, with a special match between former Black Stars players and Parliamentarians taking place beforehand. The event is part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of Ghana’s parliamentary democracy, themed “30 Years of Parliamentary Democracy Under the 4th Republic: The Journey Thus Far.”
Opoku Nti, who played for Asante Kotoko between 1980-1985 and finished as runner-up for the prestigious France Football African Footballer of the Year award in 1983, expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to achieve a remarkable feat.
“Asante Kotoko will definitely defeat Hearts of Oak on Wednesday,” he declared. “The club has been recruiting top-quality players this season. We are determined to achieve three successive wins over Hearts of Oak, a feat rarely accomplished in any season.”
“While Hearts of Oak holds a notable 4-0 record against Asante Kotoko, we aim to level that statistic.”
Opoku Nti emphasized that Kotoko aims to level the statistic, currently held by Hearts of Oak with a 4-0 record against them.
