Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan has expressed his grief for missing Ghana’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Sunday, the 13th of November.
News of Gyan missing the crunch match broke when he picked an injury during training with his UAE side Al-Ahli.
In spite of The Black Stars captain injury, the injury he visited Ghana’s training camp in Dubai to motivate his teammates.
“It feels great to see my colleagues training. I wish I could join them but this [injury] is a part of the game, as a captain I need to show my support to the boys, we have a crucial game ahead of us,” Gyan told a Ghanaian radio station.
“I feel bad because this is one of the important games in the [World Cup] qualifiers. I was prepared mentally for this game but it [the injury] happened. We have got quality players in the team, we don’t depend on one person and we are all going as a team.”
“People are just used to me which is a normal thing, I can also say I am one of the key players in the team but I think all the strikers available can do something for can also do something for their nation because they are doing well for their club, they just need to stay focused and be confident.”
“We can teach them [Egypt] a lesson, this game is crucial and we have to go for a win. It is a do or die affair, we have the players who can deliver. It is going to be a balanced game,” he added
