FC Samartex 1996 head coach Nurudeen Amadu has described his team’s goalless draw with Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium as a fair result, but he emphasized missed opportunities in his post-match reflection.
The match marked Samartex’s opening fixture in their 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title defense.
Despite gaining a numerical advantage when Dreams FC’s Collins Buah received a second yellow card in the 70th minute, Samartex failed to capitalize, and Amadu believes his side should have done more in that situation.
“Numerical advantage does not mean that you win the game. I will say that it’s a fair reflection, we should have done better as a team in terms of our attacking play and utilizing our chances. I think we did have some decent chances more than them but our finishing was poor so that is what we need to be working (on),” Amadu said during his post-game interview.
Samartex, the reigning champions after clinching their first-ever Ghana Premier League title in the 2023/24 season, now shift their focus to continental action. They will face Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League second round on Sunday, September 15, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
