Ghana head coach Otto Addo remains optimistic ahead of the Black Stars’ crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Niger today.
Despite a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium in their opening match, Addo believes his side is ready to turn things around.
Speaking to the Ghana Football Association’s Communications team, Addo acknowledged the negative reactions following the team’s recent loss but expressed confidence in his players’ ability to respond.
“There’s been a lot of talk, and understandably, a lot of negativity in the last few days. That’s normal when you lose,” the coach remarked. “But tomorrow is a big, big chance for us to win this game and prove those doubts wrong—whether about the players or the coach. I’m very sure we’ll play well. We showed it last time; now, we just need the results.”
Addo highlighted the importance of today’s match, saying, “This game is crucial. We have to win to keep our AFCON qualification hopes alive. We’ll give everything we have. I’m confident we’ll get the win, but it won’t be easy. The boys are ready and hungry to prove themselves.”
The Black Stars face Niger at the Municipal Sports Complex in Berkane, with kickoff set for later today.
