Ghana forward Jordan Ayew has expressed his gratitude for the invaluable advice and mentorship he received from his elder brother, André Ayew, and other senior players throughout his football career.
Having played for clubs such as Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace, and currently Leicester City, Ayew believes their guidance significantly contributed to his success in the sport. In a recent interview, he reflected on the impact of these influential figures: “I was very lucky because I had my brother and a few other senior players who were always advising me,” he stated.
Now with Leicester City, Ayew is stepping into a mentorship role himself, particularly for his compatriot Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who joined Leicester from Sporting CP. Ayew commended the 20-year-old winger’s hard work and determination, saying, “This just shows that the boy has done a really good job and has worked hard to get to where he is today. All credit goes to him.”
As a senior player, Ayew has made it his mission to ensure Issahaku’s smooth transition at Leicester City. “I am now here to ensure that Abdul is in a good place because I know it isn’t easy for young players,” he said, highlighting his ability to be both supportive and firm when necessary.
Both Ayew and Issahaku have been instrumental for Leicester City this season, with Ayew featuring in eight matches and Issahaku appearing nine times as the Foxes aim to make their mark in the Premier League.
