Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel ‘Ema’ Boateng has extended his contract with Major League Soccer side New England Revolution.
The MLS outfit exercised the one-year contract option of the 30-year-old following a decent run in the 2024 campaign.
Boateng, a league veteran, re-signed for New England at the start of the 2024 season to extend his stay at the club. He made 23 appearances, scoring two goals and delivering two assists during the campaign, but New England failed to secure a playoff spot.
However, his performances convinced the club to trigger his extra-year deal.
Boateng moved to the United States in 2012 after graduating from the Right to Dream Academy to join Santa Barbara.
It took him seven years and a spell in Sweden to join the MLS, where he signed for Los Angeles Galaxy in 2019.
He won the MLS championship in 2020 while on the roaster of Columbus Crew before moving to New England in 2021. In between LA galaxy and Crew, he had spent a season with DC United.
