Asante Kotoko’s new goalkeeper, Benjamin Twum, has expressed his delight at joining the two-time African champions, describing the move as a dream come true.
The 19-year-old, signed from Young Apostles FC as Kotoko’s first acquisition in the second transfer window of the 2024/25 season, has penned a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors.
In his first interview since joining the club, Twum couldn’t hide his excitement about becoming part of one of Ghana’s most storied football teams.
“It’s honestly overwhelming to join Kotoko,” he shared. “This is a club I’ve admired for as long as I can remember, and the opportunity to be part of it is something I couldn’t have imagined at this stage of my career.
“I’m here to learn, grow, and give my all whenever I’m called upon. The support and belief from everyone I’ve met so far at the club already mean so much to me.”
Twum’s rise to prominence has been nothing short of remarkable. The lanky shot-stopper earned acclaim for his stellar performances in the Ghana Premier League, particularly during Young Apostles’ historic promotion campaign. His standout moment came during the playoffs against Techiman Heroes, where his heroics in the penalty shootouts secured his team’s first-ever top-flight qualification.
On the international stage, Twum was a key member of the Black Satellites squad that finished as runners-up in the recently concluded WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship. Despite a heartbreaking loss to Nigeria in the final, Twum’s contributions were a highlight of the tournament.
