Outgoing GHALCA Chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has reaffirmed his opposition to a third term for Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku, amid rumors of potential amendments to allow it.
In an interview with Peace FM, Fianoo maintained his belief in a two-term limit for GFA presidents. “I haven’t changed my mind. When the time comes, what we can do, we will do. What we can achieve in twelve years can equally be done in eight,” he said.
Fianoo also criticized the focus on World Cup qualifications at the expense of addressing Ghana’s long-standing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title drought, which has lasted over four decades. “Is the World Cup our priority? People use that for their selfish interests, while AFCON, which we haven’t won in decades, isn’t our focus,” he questioned.
Reflecting on past conversations, Fianoo referenced remarks made by Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, emphasizing the need for Ghana football to realign its priorities. He urged stakeholders to carefully consider the country’s true football goals before any decisions are made.
“Let’s wait for the time. If he says he wants to do it, we will see. I haven’t changed my mind,” Fianoo concluded.
