Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed confidence in the Black Stars, insisting that no team in Africa is better than Ghana.
He has urged the squad to secure victories in their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Ghana will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24.
The team began training in Accra on Monday, with the Sports Minister present to motivate the players ahead of these crucial fixtures.
Speaking to the media, Kofi Adams encouraged the Black Stars to give their best effort and aim for maximum points.
“I know we are winning. Let’s work together and understand each other. Football is teamwork, as you already know. It’s not an individual game, it’s a team sport. Let’s resurrect the spirit, and it will reflect in the supporters. I know you can do it. There is no team better than you in Africa. So there should be no reason why they should gather anywhere that we are not part of,” he stated.
Ghana has struggled in recent competitions, failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after finishing bottom of Group F. This marks the first time in over 20 years that the Black Stars will miss the continental tournament.
With AFCON 2025 out of reach, the team is determined to restore national pride by delivering strong performances in the World Cup qualifiers. Currently second in Group I with nine points—level with leaders Comoros—the Black Stars must secure crucial victories to boost their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, set to take place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
