West Ham United manager Graham Potter has commended Mohammed Kudus for his strong work ethic, despite the midfielder’s struggles this season.
Kudus, who had an impressive debut campaign with the Hammers, has faced challenges in finding his form this term. The 24-year-old Ghanaian has recorded just three goals and two assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
His season was significantly affected earlier on when he received a five-match suspension and a hefty fine for slapping a Tottenham Hotspur defender out of frustration. This setback disrupted his momentum and contributed to his inconsistent performances.
Ahead of West Ham’s midweek Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Potter acknowledged that while Kudus’ season hasn’t been ideal, his work ethic has remained exceptional. “I think Mo has had probably a season that, from his perspective, would be a little bit disappointing, not because of his lack of effort or anything like that, but sometimes these things happen,” Potter said.
The manager went on to praise Kudus’ attitude, saying, “Speaking personally, he’s been great with us in terms of how he’s worked every day, fantastic. He has built his fitness up, built his condition up to the point where he can sustain things a lot better now.”
West Ham’s overall season has also fallen short of expectations, with the team struggling in the league. Their underwhelming form has placed pressure on both the players and management.
As the Hammers look ahead to their clash with Wolves, Kudus will be hoping for a fresh start. A strong performance could help him regain his confidence and play a key role in West Ham’s pursuit of a stronger finish this season.
