Asante Kotoko head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has acknowledged his side’s recent dip in form but insists they remain in contention for the Ghana Premier League title.
The Porcupine Warriors suffered their second consecutive defeat on Sunday, falling 2-0 to Nations FC just days after a heavy 3-0 loss to Accra Lions. The back-to-back setbacks have seen Kotoko slip from first to fourth on the league table, casting doubt over their title hopes.
Speaking to Globe TV after the match, Ogum expressed concern over the team’s current struggles, with Kotoko now winless in their last three outings. Despite the slump, the coach remains optimistic about a strong finish to the season.
“Back-to-back defeats aren’t ideal, but as a technical team, it’s our duty to lift the players and maintain focus despite the pressure from outside,” Ogum said.
“These are the same players who went unbeaten for several matches earlier in the season. We believe in them, and we’re confident we can bounce back.”
“The league isn’t over yet. We still have games to play, and we’ll continue fighting,” he added.
Kotoko currently sit fourth with 47 points and will look to reignite their title charge when they face Aduana Stars in their next fixture.
