The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has revealed that Black Stars players will not be paid winning bonuses for their upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
The team is currently in Asia as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with matches scheduled against Japan on Friday, November 14, and South Korea on Tuesday, November 18.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Asante Twum clarified that players will only receive daily allowances (per diems) for the two matches.
“There will be no winning bonuses for the Japan and South Korea friendly games — only per diems,” he stated.
He further disclosed that both host nations are funding the Black Stars’ participation, including travel and logistical arrangements.
“These games are fully financed by the host countries — Japan and South Korea,” Asante Twum added.
Head coach Otto Addo has named a 22-man squad for the Asian tour. As of Wednesday, 18 players had reported to camp in Nagoya, with the remaining players expected to join later in the day.
The Black Stars are set to hold their first training session today, November 12, ahead of the Kirin Cup fixture against Japan on Friday.
