Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Dr. Kwame Kyei says, he is ready to pay fully the $240,000.00 fine by FIFA in relation to the club and Esperance transfer saga with the support of the fans in the coronavirus pandemic period.
According to the Business mogul, seeking for help from the supporters of the club to settle the $240,000.00 in this difficult times wouldn’t make any sense, hence has expressed readiness to pay the said amount in full from his pocket.
”Executive board chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei Baffour has agreed to make full payment of the debt filed by FIFA earlier this week. He continued stating that because of the Covid-19, he doesn’t want to disturb any supporter to make any payment but after the situation neutralize then any willing supporter can contribute his/her quota for the club,” Light FM Sports reported.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has been drawn into the Asante Kotoko/ Emmanuel Clottey vs Esperance of Tunis $240,000 controversy with the latest FIFA directive reportedly threatening to ban the Association should they fail to sanction Asante Kotoko in the event they fail to pay the fine imposed on them.
The directive from FIFA is asking the Ghana FA to ensure Asante Kotoko serve a transfer ban in both Local and international in the event they fail to pay the $240,000 be May 10.

According to the ruling, Asante Kotoko and Emmanuel Clottey have 30 days from the day of Judgment to pay Esperance of Tunis the sum of $250,000 Jointly and severally.
“As a member of FIFA, the Ghana Football Association is reminded of its duty to implement the decision of FIFA and provide proof that the transfer ban has been implemented at national level. If the Ghana Football Association does not comply with this decision, the FIFA disciplinary committee will decide on appropriate sanctions on the member, this can lead to expulsion from FIFA competitions”, the ruling stated.
