Former Ghana U23 head coach Malik Jabir has in full regalia registered his disappointment following the sports ministry failure to pay all bonuses and salaries due him when he coached the team.
The former Ghana international coach the Olympic team between 2014-2016 and was paid only three months salaries, something he describes as painful and worrisome.
Expressing his disappointment in an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM, Jabir said ‘’We can’t let it go like that, at least we are ageing and we have families to keep and the rest. I know before we departed for Congo government approved some monies for us. There’s no tournament that you’ll partake in that the government will not give subvention,’’
‘’Why is it that since our arrival from Congo we have not received any bonuses or salaries. We’ve not received anything and I can’t understand how it.
‘’One day I take it up seriously if others will not about it. I know the government voted money for it. Because the government can’t tell you to go to Congo without anything. Is this possible? he quizzed.
‘’That’s why I am serious about that. If I tell you the problems we went through before going to Congo you would not believe it. Even I wanted us to play one friendly match but we couldn’t get it.
‘’It’s not the coach’s duty to fight for this. What is the use of the management teams that we have been forming? It’s their job, not the coach.
According to him, the country’s football governing body despite being provided with all covering the playing body and that of the technical team, they failed to push for the monies for his outfit.
He says ‘’I went to my vice chairman Lawyer Kweku Eyiah, he told me he has sent every detail covering everybody to the GFA, but up till now, nobody is talking about it.
‘’We qualified and we were supposed to be paid qualification bonuses and we won some games in the tournament, too.
‘’I worked for 2014 to 2016 they paid for only three months. Monies have been coming but you don’t hear about those it is shared to.
‘’I wrote a letter to the minister to inform him about it but as at now, I have not heard anything about it.’’ the Kotoko legend concluded.
