Ghana’s Black Stars on Friday evening succumbed to the Eagles of Mali in an international friendly in Turkey.
The Ghanaians started the game at a slow pace and was made to pay dearly for their sluggish start when Malian captain Hamari Traoré was released on goal by Oumar Dacoure on the third minute to put the ball past goalkeeper Ati-Zigi after running past Gideon Mensah with ease.
The Ghanaian team came into the game strongly after falling behind and could’ve grabbed the equalizer on the 10th minutes but for Jordan Ayew’s unselfishness as he tried locating his brother Andre Ayew instead of taking a shot at goal.
After the first half, the Malians upped their play and scored the second goal three minutes into the second 45 minutes when Hamari Traoré’s cross from the right side of attack was met perfectly in the box by 18-year-old El Bilal Toure to make it 2-0 to the Eagles.
Matters were mage worst for the stars when Amadou Haidara of RB Leipzig beat the offside trap on the 75th minutes to slot home the third for the Malians in a game the outplayed the Black Stars.
Ghana failed to get a goal in the first game of coach CK Akonnor’s reign as they suffered a humiliating defeat to West African neighbors Mali by a whooping 3-0 defeats.
Ghana will take on Qatar on Monday in another friendly and would be hoping to return to winning ways after today’s total disgrace against Mali.
