Italian Serie A side Cagliari Calcio have announced that it has acquired the services of Black Stars midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah.
The vastly experienced Ghanaian International player has signed a contract that binds him to the Club until the end of this season.
Born in Accra, the capital of Ghana, on December 9, 1988, he began playing at home in the Liberty Professionals. At the age of twenty he arrives in Italy: after a spell in the Torino Primavera (January 2008), he moves to Udinese the following season. Here he made his Serie A debut on 11 January 2009 at home against Sampdoria: in his four years in Friuli he will be among the main architects of the team’s results, with 134 appearances, considering national and international competitions, and 8 goals.
In the summer of 2012 he was bought by Juventus, where he was definitively consecrated. In 2013-14 he entered the top 11 of the Serie A year, awarded by the Italian Footballers Association. In six seasons with Juventus, he collected trophies: 6 league titles, 4 editions of the Italian Cup and 3 of the Italian Super Cup. Play 156 games, including 27 between Champions League and Europa League, and score 5 goals.
In 2018-19 he arrives at Inter. In the span of two seasons in the Nerazzurri he collected 53 games: 40 in Serie A, 1 in the Italian Cup, 9 in the Champions League and 3 in the Europa League.
With the national team of his country he has so far played 71 matches and scored 4 goals. The debut took place on 11 February 2009, in Cairo, in the friendly against Egypt. He has participated in four editions of the African Cup (2010, 2012, 2013 and 2019, with a second and two third places) and two of the World Cup (2010, 2014).
Asamoah combines technique, power and speed. Particularly flexible, thanks to his qualities he can play both the role of defensive winger and that of midfielder, lateral or midfielder, making himself precious both in the containment phase and in the push. Temperament and dynamism: thanks to his 270 appearances in Serie A, the African footballer – together with Sulley Muntari – has collected the most appearances in the top flight in the era of three points to victory. An element of great depth arrives in the rossoblù, who will be able to make all his skills and experience matured at the highest levels available to the team.
