Mensah! Quite a familiar name in the football fraternity in Ghana due to the achievement of past players who beared the name.
A new Mensah, Isaac of Accra Hearts of Oak SC has begun making his name a famous one among the fans and supporters of the Great Oak club in Accra.
A youngster from Nkoranza, a small town in the Brong East province of Ghana is gradually winning the hearts of many supporters of the 2000 CAF Champions League winners.
Mensah, after joining the Phobians was expected to hit the ground running following the name he chalked for himself following his eight goals in 14 matches for the Division One League side in the truncated 2019-20 season in the West African country due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.
Though not making an instant hit at the club, the 18-year-old attacker has been warming himself up into the Phobians team after his introduction by former coach, Kosta Papic and has begun to find his feet at the club.
The youngster has been patiently waiting for the right time to make a case for himself and was a delight to watch in his cameo appearance in Elmina against Sharks FC in the Ghanaian top-flight.
Then! The moment of breakthrough and probably a step to stardom presented itself at the crucial time of the club’s season, a difficult game against Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Mensah Isacc after coming from the bench scored a winning goal for the Phobians in additional time to win the game for a Hearts of Oak team who were without a win in four straight games to end the unwanted winless record at the club.
Then came another day and a new opportunity for the young lad to make his presence felt and prove to doubters his moment of glory in the previous game was not a fluke and OH BOY! Didn’t he do that in a stylish way?
After coming off the bench, the young lad produced a moment of magic once again as he scored the all-important goal which clinched all three points for the Phobians ahead of their Super Clash against old foes, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC on Sunday.
Hasn’t he done enough to warrant a start against the Porcupine Warriors on Sunday? Many of the Hearts of Oak fans believe Yes! It is time to give the young lad a chance to shine on the biggest day in the Ghana Premier League when the two most glamorous clubs meet to fight over supremacy, bragging rights, and all the valuable three points at stake.
The big game is on Sunday afternoon at 3pm in Accra and Isaac MENSAH, the new kid on the block would be expected to make a mark once again for the Phobians.
