Newly signed USM Alger striker Kwame Opoku has insisted that he had a valid contract with Division One League side Nkoranza Warriors prior to his move to giants Asante Kotoko.
Opoku’s comment comes in the wake of unsubstantiated reports that he had no running contract with the Ghanaian second-tier side before sealing a transfer move to Asante Kotoko, hence marking Nkoranz Warriors ineligible to benefit from a 20% onward transfer fee from his juicy four and a half year deal to USM Alger.
The 21-year old prolific striker has signed for the emerging Algerian powerhouse for a fee of 500,000 Euros as exclusively reported by SportsworldGhana.com.
However, the player speaking to Kumasi-based Ash FM, Kwame Opoku said: ”I had a valid contract with Nkoranza Warriors before I signed for Asante Kotoko,”
‘‘I had a three-year contract with them and played almost two years. The truth of the matter is that I was a player of them before my move to Asante Kotoko so those saying I wasn’t their player are just making speculations,” Poku concluded.
Information available to Sports World Ghana indicates that Asante Kotoko will only enjoy 60% of the 500,000 euros deal with 10% going to the Ghana Football Association and that of the agent who broke the deal.
Additionally, Nkoranza Warriors will be entitled to 20% of the money.
The striker who has scored seven goals for Kotoko in the ongoing Ghanaian Premier League, will leave Ghana to join his USM Algers teammates after the Black Stars’ 2021 Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome.
