Experienced Ghanaian defender John Boye put up a superb performance on Friday night at he Stade Saint Symphorien despite Metz losing 2-0 to Ligue 1 leaders Lille.
Boye could have opened the scoring for his side in the 17th minuted but saw his stupendous goal-bound volley being stopped on the line by Jose Fonte with the resulting penalty being missed by Leya Iseka.
The Ghanaian guardsman remained a pillar at the back fir Metz and defended gallantly whilst he occasionally moved forward o join the attack.
Burak Yilmaz netted the opener for Lille in the 60th minute before his fellow Turkish Mehmet Zeki Celik added the second in the 89th minute.
