Diawisie Taylor has scored 15 goals in the ongoing 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season for Karela United FC in 23 matches so far.
The 21-year-old Ghanaian attacker has been in a fine form for the Pride and Passion side throughout the campaign wowing the football enthusiasts and fans in the country.
In the first half of the season, the sharp shooter bagged 12 goals and ended the half of the season as the most prolific striker on the domestic scene.
After his exploits in the Ghana Premier League first round, Black Stars coach CK Akonnor invited the young chap ahead of AFCON qualifiers games against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.
Though, Taylor did not get the chance to play for the senior national team, but he has been a constant performer in this year’s league.
With his outstanding week-in and week-out outstanding displays, the Anyinase lads led the Ghana Premier League on several match day weeks before their defeat to Kotoko which gradually began to have a negative impact on the team as they started declining on the league table.
Taylor went five straight games without a goal in the league before breaking his goal drought on week 23 against Bechem United FC at the CAM Park in Anyinase.
He again failed to score in his team’s 1-1 draw away at Elmina against Sharks but this time around bounced back the following week with his fourteenth (14) of the season at home in their 2-0 win over XI Wonders.
The top scorer of the domestic top-flight, Taylor again hit target on last Sunday during a match day 26 clash against Chelsea FC in their 1-1 stalemate.
With his latest strike against the Bibires, Taylor has taken his total tally in the league to 15 goals and provided has provided two assists in the league.
After hitting 15 goals out of the 34 goals scored by Karela United FC in 26 matches this season, the 21-year-old striker has a goal contribution of 44.1 percent showing why he’s the most important players for the club.
With Taylor’s two assists and 15 goals which takes his goal involvement to 17, the young attacker has single-handedly contributed 50 percent of his team’s 34 goals so far in the domestic.
The Ghana Premier League top scorer has also won the Most Valuable Player award on four occasions depicting how influential he’s been in games for the Green and Reds lads.
Undoubtedly, Taylor is one of the most gifted youngsters in the Ghana top-flight and is certainly destined for greatness should he be able to keep his desire and work hard on his talent.
His 15 goals puts him four clear of former Dreams FC attacker, Joseph Esso who has joined MC Alger in Algeria and is five goals clear, Hans Kwofie of Legon Cities FC, Kwame Peprah of Kumasi King Faisal and Stephen Amankonah of Berekum Chelsea which gives him an edge over his competitors and could win the top scores award at the end of the season.
