Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be looking to return to winning ways when they host AhantiGold SC in match-day 28 of the Ghana Premier League over the weekend at the Len Clay sports Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors are without a win in their last three games after a run of three consecutive draws, which has seen them slip down to second of the league table.
Their regional neighbours have, however, struggled in the second half of the top-flight since the dismissal of Romain Folz, who took over midway through the campaign.
The Miners have just one win in their last six games in the competition, losing four and drawing the other one. Ashgold find themselves a whopping 15 points behind their fierce rivals and a win for them will be a huge boost going into the last stretch of the season.
Having 26 out of the last 61 encounters between the two, Kotoko has the upper hand over the Obuasi-based club, who have just 14 wins from these games while 20 have ended in stalemates including the first-round clash in the ongoing season earlier in January.
Both teams recorded wins in their FA Cup round of 64 games in midweek against Bekwai Youth Football Academy and King Faisal respectively.
While playing as the home team, Mariano Barreto’s side have lost twice this season while Ashgold’s away record has been far from impressive.
Kotoko will be without the services of their dependable left-back Ibrahim Imoro for the weekend game after he was given an invitation to the Black Meteors -[U-23] camp for friendly games against Japan and South Korea.
Referee Daniel Laryea will be the centre referee for the encounter at the Len Clay sports stadium, Roland Addy, Halilu Alhassan and Musah Mubarik assisting him.
