Ghanaian teen midfielder Kwame Opoku Adubofour Afriyie, has expressed excitement after signing for Peterborough United.
The promising attacking midfielder on Monday completed a four-year move to the newly promoted English Championship club after passing his mandatory medical.
“I am really happy to be here, it has taken a little while because I have actually had Covid, but it is all good, things like that can happen, I am really looking forward to getting started. This club have shown that they can develop younger players and I am excited to get going,” he told the club’s official website.
“I really enjoyed my time at Colchester, there were ups and downs, but that is football, I wish them nothing but the best for the future. I like to express myself as a footballer, try and create and score goals and enjoy it, that is the main thing.”
Opoku, 19, on 19 March 2021, earned his debut Black Stars call-up for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe.
He officially made his debut on 28 March 2021 after coming on as a 79th-minute substitute for Mohammed Kudus in a 3–1 victory over São Tomé and Príncipe at the Accra Sports Stadium.
