Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu was named the ‘Man of the Match’ in Southampton’s league game with Newcastle United.
The central defender started a third straight league game this season after involvements in the opening two fixtures and was the man of the match in the third one as Southampton salvaged a point against the Magpies.
The Saints, twice had to come from behind to level the score after Callum Wilson’s effort was cancelled out by Mohammed Elyounoussi while a late penalty from James Ward-Prowse ensured Allan Saint-Maximin’s effort was not the winner.
Salisu put in one of his best performances in a Southampton shirt; making three appearances and six successful tackles as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side earned their second point of the season.
