Former Ghana Football Association President Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has said that Charles Kwablah Akonnor was not a man of himself, adding he wasn’t mentally strong to coach the Black Stars.
Akonnor, 47, was sacked on Monday barely a little over one year in charge of the senior national team due to series of uninspiring performances.
Ghana won only four games out of the ten matches played under Akonnor and the defeat to South Africa in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifier.
Speaking in Metro TV, he said: “CK Akonnor overstayed. I think he is not a leader,”
If he tries to lead it fails. A coach must be tough so boys don’t toss him about.
“To work for the government seven months and salaries were unpaid, official car denied him, his residence given to another person, I would have resigned.
“I think he should have resigned from the position. He held on until they sacked him and I believe that was a wrong decision for him. You have to be mentally strong to hold big positions like a national team coach,” he added.
Meanwhile, Serbian tactician Milovan Rajavic looks likely to be given the job with a reported monthly salary of $45,000.
