Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos insists the Africa world cup qualification zone is tough.
Broos pointed out that the number of teams who has to represent the continent in the Mundial is not less and it must be reviewed by FIFA.
“It is extremely difficult for African countries to qualify for the World Cup. There are 40 countries playing this round of qualifiers and from the 40, only five teams will qualify.” Broos told Sunday World
“It’s not fair, the African continent is bigger than Europe and why not have the same chances?”
“It’s always the same teams from Africa that qualify – Cameroon, Ghana, Egypt, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Nigeria or Morocco, those countries have made big steps forward in their player development.”
“We have to do that here in SA as well to increase our chances of qualifying and participating in the world cups,”He added.
South Africa qualified for the France 98 world cup as well as the 2002 edition in Japan and South Korea.
