Newly appointed Eleven Wonders head coach Emmanuel Aidoo has openly admitted that taking charge of the club is a major risk, given the circumstances surrounding their current struggles.
Aidoo stepped into the role following the departures of coaches Nii Odartey Lamptey and J.E. Sarpong, who both left due to internal challenges within the club. Despite the turbulence, he has already overseen positive signs of progress.
Since his arrival, Eleven Wonders recorded a morale-boosting victory in the FA Cup, progressing to the next round. More importantly, after going 11 Premier League matches without a win, Aidoo guided the team to their first league triumph of the season — a 2-0 victory over Dreams FC on Matchday 12.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Aidoo revealed that his primary mandate is to secure the club’s Premier League status, but he did not shy away from acknowledging the risk involved.
“I’ve been tasked to ensure that Eleven Wonders does not go on relegation, but I must say that accepting the challenge to coach Eleven Wonders was a risk,” he said.
Aidoo also cleared the air regarding financial concerns at the club, confirming that the players have received their monthly salaries.
“As far as I know, the Eleven Wonders players have been paid their monthly salaries,” he added.
Currently sitting bottom of the league table with six points, Eleven Wonders face Swedru All Blacks on Sunday in their Matchday 13 encounter as they continue their push for survival.
