Ghana Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey has urged the team to treat each opponent in the group for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations with equal respect.
Ghana was drawn in Group C, and would face competition from Morocco, Gabon and Comoros in the group stage of the tournament to be staged in Cameroon early next year.
Following the draw, there have been comments from Ghanaian, the Stars have been handed quite an easy draw, a claim Amiens SC midfielder has advised against.
Though the player believes Morocco could be Ghana’s biggest hurdle at the continental showpiece, he was quick to add that they will need not to look down on any opposition in the group.
“I’m very optimistic Ghana can qualify from Group C because of the quality of the Black Stars. I know Morocco can be our major obstacle but we can triumph over them. Recently, we played a friendly game with Morocco so we know their style of play. So I believe we can beat Morocco and qualify from the group stages as well,” the 23-year-old told Onua Sports in an interview.
“I was monitoring the AFCON 2021 draw with Nicolas Opoku and I told him the group Ghana find itself in is a good one and we must qualify. We shouldn’t underestimate any opponent in Ghana’s group”.
Ghana will begin its quest for a fifth Africa Cup of Nations title against Morocco – a team that beat Charles Kwabla Akonnor’s side in a friendly game earlier this summer – on January 10 and play Gabon and Comoros respectively, all in Yaoundé/.
