Asante Kotoko’s assistant coach, David Ocloo, didn’t mince words as he expressed his disappointment with the central referee Maxwell Hanson’s performance after their loss to Heart of Lions.
The Porcupine Warriors suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Heart of Lions, with the home side clinching victory courtesy of Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah’s goal in the 52nd minute of the matchday 18 fixture at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Ocloo didn’t shy away from addressing the officiating standards, emphasizing the importance of improvement among match officials.
“I wouldn’t want to talk about the referee but we were all here and saw what happened,” he remarked, highlighting the contentious decisions during the game. “I think if we want our football to go forward, our referees need to be up there,” he added, urging for higher standards in officiating.
Despite the setback, Asante Kotoko remains in 3rd place in the league standings with 29 points.
Looking ahead, the team aims to bounce back from the defeat as they prepare to face Bibiani Gold Stars in their next fixture on March 3rd at the Baba Yara Stadium.
