In a highly anticipated clash during the ninth week of the Ghana Premier League, two football giants, Asante Kotoko and CAF Confederations Cup contenders Dreams FC, faced off at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Both teams entered the game following recent defeats in the Ghana Premier League. Kotoko narrowly lost to Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Koramansah Park, while Dreams FC suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Berekum Chelsea.
Today, the “Still Believe” squad traveled to Kumasi with the intention of defeating the Porcupine Warriors and returning to the path of victory. Prior to this match, Dreams FC had experienced back-to-back defeats in the Ghanaian top-flight.
Dreams FC managed to break the deadlock just before halftime through a goal by Abdul Aziz Issah. There were no additional goals in the second half, allowing the CAF Confederations Cup contenders to claim all three points.
In their quest for an equalizer, Kotoko’s coach Prosper Narteh Ogum introduced his attacking options in the second half. However, Dreams FC exhibited determination and resilience, securing their first win in their last three matches. Meanwhile, the record holders of the Ghana Premier League have not managed to secure a victory since October 13.
As a result of this defeat, Kotoko has dropped to the 14th position with 10 points, while Dreams FC has climbed to the 10th spot with 11 points after nine matches this season.
The Porcupine Warriors will be playing an away match against Samartex in the tenth week of the domestic top-flight league.
