The Black Stars have fallen in the latest FIFA World Rankings following disappointing performances during the September international break.
Ghana, who faced Angola and Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, endured a rough campaign, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium and drawing 1-1 with Niger in Berkane. These results left Ghana in third place in Group F of the qualifiers.
As a consequence of these underwhelming results, Ghana has dropped from 64th to 70th in the global rankings. The Black Stars were surpassed by several nations, including Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, Albania, Cape Verde, and Burkina Faso.
On the African continent, Ghana has also slipped in the rankings, moving from 12th to 14th. Burkina Faso and Cape Verde have overtaken them.
In the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rankings, Morocco leads the standings, with Senegal in second, followed by Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, and Tunisia rounding out the top five.
The Black Stars will aim to rebound in their upcoming AFCON qualifiers in October when they face Sudan in back-to-back matches.
