Ghana’s Black Meteors Coach head Ibrahim Tanko is pleased with his side’s U23 Afcon opener 1-1 draw against Cameroon.
The former Black Stars assistant coach believes the 1-1 draw was fair results for both sides.
Tanko who is leading Ghana’s quest for Olympic game football for the first time in 16 years however, bemoaned his team’s inability to have some key players for the tournament.
“In tournament like this first games are always very difficult to play, the 1- 1 is a fair results for both teams. Our players who played in the qualifiers are not here, these are all starters for us, but we managed to have a team that can qualify us from the group, and to the Olympics” – Ibrahim Tanko told the press at the post match conference.
Adding more to the above, Tanko admitted his side struggled to play in the first half of the game, allowing their opponent to control the game.
“The first 25 minutes was not good, we allowed them to play, some of our players were very nervous, but we came in very strong in the second half”.
“Our game against Egypt will not be easy, but we are going to try out best to win, so we stay in the tournament”
Ghana’s next game will be against hosts Egypt and the winner of that game is likely to make the next phase of the competition.
