The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has delivered a favorable verdict for the Inter Allies players who were initially banned in connection to the match-fixing scandal involving Ashantigold.
The decision has been reversed, and the players, including Hashim Musah, will now receive compensation of $345.77 each from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Previously, the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee had sanctioned these 21 players for their alleged involvement in manipulating the match, which resulted in a 7-0 victory for AshantiGold at the Len Clay stadium in Obuasi.
Asante Kotoko SC appealed the GFA’s decision specifically for player Richmond Nii Lamptey, who had transferred from Allies. CAS upheld the stay of execution, temporarily lifting the ban on the players, allowing them to resume playing for their respective clubs.
In addition to the compensation awarded to the players, CAS has ordered the Ghana FA to pay Richmond Nii Lamptey 3000 Swiss Francs to cover his legal fees and other expenses related to the arbitration proceedings.
Furthermore, each of the remaining players will receive 300 Swiss Francs, totaling 6,300 Swiss Francs, as contributions towards their legal fees and other expenses.
