Twenty-four African players have won the prestigious UEFA Champions League with various European football clubs and on Sunday Cameroon international Eric Manxim Choupo-Moting could join this rich list.
The Cameroonian came off the bench to score a match-winning goal against Atalanta in the quarterfinals of this season’s competition.
The game was played at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon as a one-off contest due to the Covid-19 and Choupo was the hero for the French side who comfortably accounted for RB Leipzig in the semifinals on Tuesday with a full-time scoreline of 3-0 to reach their first ever Champions League final.
The former Stoke City and Schalke 05 forward will be bidding to enter into the history books as the 25th African footballer to lift the prestigious trophy when PSG meet either Bayern Munich or country rivals Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday.
