German-born Ghanaian striker Collin Quaner is eager to achieve success at Scottish Premiership side St. Mirren.
The versatile attacker joined Mirren earlier this month on a free transfer after being released by Huddersfield Town last summer and he is looking forward to have a good career with the “Buddies”.
“I had a brilliant time with Huddersfield. We got promoted to the Premier League and I think it’s also a special club because it’s like a small family. It’s really fan-centred.” Quaner told Express Sport
“The connection with the fans has always been brilliant. They gave me a lot of love I must say.
“When we played the semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday away, we were 1-0 down and then I came on and basically after a very nice through ball from Izzy Brown I was able to force an equaliser.
“In the end we won on a penalty shoot-out and got promoted in the final. So that’s what I think the Huddersfield fans remember the most.
“I have always had that feeling in my career that the underdog can do well. Getting promoted to the Premier League with Huddersfield definitely showed how important is to characters and spirit, as well as high quality.
“We had a bunch of lads who believed in each other and lifted us up. That was the main reason why were so successful at Huddersfield and the gaffer David Wagner made us believe in each other.
“Why can’t St Mirren do the same in the cup? I see the same character in our dressing that I did in Huddersfield’s. We can definitely win the cup and that would be brilliant.”
“The lads have made it easy for me to settle in. Training’s been really good.
“I feel really good, physically I feel fine. I’ll speak to the gaffer and we’ll see, he makes the decision on if I play.
“I was keeping fit in Germany over the recent months. I was basically back and forth between the UK because I still had a base in Leeds.
“Luckily I was able to train with Schalke which made it easier to stay fit and ready.
“I can’t say exactly what isn’t there in the team already, but what I will bring is energy and positivity.” He added.
Quaner is expected to lead the attack of St. Mirren for the second half of the season.
