Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has praised new Black Stars call-up Derrick Arthur Köhn, describing him as an exceptional talent who will add quality to the national team.
Köhn, who was born in Germany to Ghanaian parents, has been named in Otto Addo’s 24-man squad for Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
The 26-year-old full-back previously represented Germany at the U19 level but has now committed his international future to Ghana after completing a nationality switch.
Speaking in an interview with Starr FM, Asante Twum expressed delight at the defender’s decision and backed him to excel for the Black Stars.
“Derrick Arthur Köhn has gladly agreed to switch his nationality from Germany to Ghana. He is an exceptional talent with very good attributes as a defender,” Asante Twum said.
Köhn, who plays his club football with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga, is expected to join the Black Stars camp on Monday as preparations begin for the double-header.
Ghana will travel to Ndjamena to face Chad before hosting Mali in Accra, with victories in both matches crucial to their hopes of securing a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
