Dundee Football Club have announced the signing of striker Emile Acquah on a three-year deal from Barrow FC for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
The 24-year-old joins from English League Two side Barrow AFC where he has spent the past two seasons.
Emile came through the youth academy at Southend United. Before making his debut for Southend Emile went on loan to Harlow Town before being recalled in March 2019. He would then go on to make his debut for Southend United in League One that season.
Acquah would go on to play 48 times for Southend scoring 3 times. After an initial loan move, he permanently moved to Maidenhead United in the National League where he spent two seasons, playing 78 times and scoring 17 goals. Acquah then moved to Barrow and spent two season playing in League Two where he played 89 games and scored 16 goals.
Speaking after signing for Dundee Emile said, “I’m delighted to get it signed, I heard about the interest and I’m happy that it got done quickly. I spoke to the gaffer and he said he had watched me a few times and thinks I can do well in this team and in the league, so it’s an exciting move. Dundee are a big club and when I heard of the interest, I just wanted to get here. Coming to Scotland is a good new challenge for me, so far I’ve just played in England and I feel like I want something different.
“I’m a big man but I’m good with the ball at my feet, I like to make to runs behind and I will always work hard for the team and I’m always looking to get goals. As a striker, you get judged by how many times you put the ball in the net and hopefully, I can do that many times this season.”
