Dundee United manager, Jim Goodwin, showered commendations on Ghanaian prodigy Mathew Anim Cudjoe following his stellar performance in their remarkable comeback triumph over Queens Park.
Reflecting on Cudjoe’s impact, Goodwin remarked, “I thought Cudjoe started the game really well – on the front-foot and positive.” He further praised the youngster’s technical prowess, stating, “Technically, he is one of the best players in the group, in terms of his handling of the ball.”
Acknowledging Cudjoe’s fearlessness on the pitch, Goodwin added, “He is very brave and will take the ball in tight areas.” However, Goodwin also highlighted the inevitable concern regarding Cudjoe’s energy levels due to his limited playing time, stating, “The one concern that you have with the players who haven’t played a great deal of football is the energy level.”
As the match progressed, Goodwin revealed his strategy to maintain freshness, noting, “As the game went on, it was always my intention to freshen things up around the hour-mark.” This tactical decision saw Cudjoe being substituted for Glenn Middleton at the sixty-minute mark.
