Dutch-born Ghanaian youngster Brian Adjei Brobbey scored to propel Ajax Amsterdam U19 to a 2-1 win over Lille in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday afternoon in France.
The highly-talented striker was netted the opening goal for Ajax to send them to top of group H in the UEFA Youth League in group H of the UEFA Youth League with 10 points, one above second second side Lille.
Lille, started the game on a very good mark in attempt to punish the Dutch side in the early minutes of the game but defender Terrence Douglas superbly set up Brian Brobbey who flawlessly slotted the ball in the short corner to give Ajax an important away lead in the second minute.
With the World Cup players back in the selection, Ajax took control of the game dominated play in the entire first half.
Brobbey again, proved his quality best as he assisted Kenneth Taylor to give the visitors a deserving 2-0 lead in the 7th minute mark.
Sontje Hansen had a fine opportunity to give his side a 0-3 lead after a hard shot by Brobbey but the winner of the FIFA U17 World Cup Golden Shoe failed to put his name on the scores sheet as his shot hit the cross bar.
After an hour of play, Lille came strongly in the game as they pushed for a goal with some beautiful possession.
The French side finally pulled one back in the 68th minute after Abou Ouattara was put a 1-on-1 with situation with Ajax goalie Calvin Raatsie.
The French striker this time, did not fail and brought the tension back to the race.
It turned out to be the only really big chance for the home team and they made good use of it.
Lille, finished the game with 10 men after Cheick Niasse was sent off for unsporting behaviour in the 77th minute.
The French captain hooked Naci Ünuvar while the attacker seemed en route to the French goal as Ajax deservedly clinch all three points in the crucial away fixture.
Brobbey, who according to Transfermarkt is currently valued at 1 million Euros despite yet to command play time in Ajax’s first team is eligible to play for Ghana’s Black Stars even though he has represented the Netherlands at the various youth levels.
