Arsenal is set to greenlight Eddie Nketiah’s loan move to Marseille, which includes an obligation for the French club to purchase him for around €30 million.
According to The Athletic, Nketiah has agreed to personal terms for a five-year contract, and the decision now rests with Marseille on whether to finalize the deal.
New Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi is spearheading the effort to bring in the 25-year-old forward, who is keen to join the Ligue 1 side.
In July, Marseille made an improved offer close to €20 million (£16.8 million), coming closer to Arsenal’s valuation of Nketiah. Negotiations between the two clubs have been ongoing.
Nketiah, who signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal in June 2022, has seen his playing time as the main striker limited under Mikel Arteta due to the arrivals of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, who has taken over the starting role.
Last season, Nketiah featured in 37 matches for Arsenal, scoring six goals. However, he was in the starting lineup for only 10 Premier League games and did not play in the final six league matches as Arsenal vied with Manchester City for the title.
Nketiah also made his senior debut for England last season, appearing as a substitute in a friendly against Australia in October. Despite this, he remains eligible to represent Ghana, as he has yet to make a competitive appearance for England.
