Former Asokwa Deportivo SC striker, Joel Fameyeh has expressed his joy after making his Ghana bow in a friendly match against Morocco on Tuesday evening.
Fameyeh produced a decent performance in the Ghana jersey in Rabat despite the the defeat suffered by the Black Stars against the Atlas Lions of Morocco on their home turf.
The Ghanaian was the first player to have a shot at goal after connecting to a cross from the right side of attack by Reading FC player Andy Yiadom but his effort went over the bar.
In a half which was fairly dominated by the Moroccans, the FC Orenburg star was one of the standout performers for the senior national team in the first half along side players like Baba Iddrisu of Real Mallorca in Spain and Mohammed Kudus of AFC Ajax Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
After the game, the 24-year-old striker told Sportsworldghana.com how happy he feels to make his senior debut for his motherland.
“I’m very pleased and excited to play for my country for the first time and I want to use this opportunity to thank God and everyone who made this dream a reality”, he told Sportsworldghana.com
The young striker though happy to have played for the four-time AFCON winners but was gutted to have suffered defeat on his first appearance for the Stars.
“Though I am really thankful and honoured to wear the Black Stars jersey but this is not the result we wanted and will do anything possible to make Ghanaians happy again but I want them to know we will always give our all for the country”, he added.
The former Dynamo Brest man was substituted and replaced by general captain Andre Ayew.
Ghana lost the game by a lone goal but will have a to appease the fans on Saturday evening when they square off with neighbors Ivory Coast in Cape Coast.
