The former Ghana U20 international recently extended his stay at Italy lower-tier side G.S Felino and has thanked his former bosses of Parma Calcio for their continued support throughout his stay in the country of Francesco Totti.
Godfred Adofo , now 27 , joined Parma U19 from Bechem United in the 2011/12 season and was seen as one of the future big stars for the Serie A side but a serious groin injury prevented the highly rated defender from achieving bigger things with the team then managed by Roberto Donadoni.
“Parma didn’t give up on me easily. They flew me to Spain twice for surgeries following the injury. They were with me day and night and for this I always thank those Parma directors.” Adofo recounted to SPORTSworldGhana.com in an exclusive chat.
After couple of unsuccessful loan spells in Romania and Spain the Ghanaian was finally released by Parma in July 2015 and as a result he decided to bring an end to his young football career but one unplanned meeting with some former officials of Italian club changed the decision to give up.
“It came to a time that they had to release me because my injury was becoming a big problem. It affected my growth honestly and that is why at some point I decided to stop playing but I once met some of the directors of Parma who are no more at the club and they encouraged me to continue playing.
They moved to Sassuolo and we continue to get in touch and that is why I started again in the lower divisions” Godfred Adofo revealed to SPORTSworldGhana.com.
