Dutch Eredivisie giants AFC Ajax Amsterdam are keen to buy back Ghanaian forward, Brian Brobbey from Germany Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig, Sportsworldghana.com can confirm.
The director of football at the Dutch Champions, Marc Overmars is confident of resigning young Ghanaian striker Brian Brobbey for a fee of €7m before the end of 2021 summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old Ghanaian is said to be reluctant to move to Germany after Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche, left the club with head coach Julian Nagelsmann joining the Bundesliga champions, the young man has been contemplating on a possible stay with the Dutch giants.
Brobbey’s willingness to move abroad is said to vanishing and has encouraged Marc Overmars, who’s Ajax big boss to seal a deal with Leipzig which could make him stay at the club and sign a new contract with the Red and Whites.
The youngster’s preferred position is as a centre forward, but he can be used anywhere across the attacking line.
He made his Ajax debut on 31 October 2020 in the Eredivisie, coming on in a 5-2 win against Fortuna Sittard. He made an instant impact, scoring to put Ajax 3-1 ahead. Brobbey has also gained experience on a European level, featuring in both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.
A product of the famous Ajax academy, he has also progressed through all the ranks of the Netherlands youth national team, where he has scored 26goals in 37 matches. He won the U17 European Championship in both 2018 and 2019.
Despite his age, Brobbey has developed physically as well and his attributes are obvious when you watch him play. The Ghanaian is very active in the penalty area, coupling poaching instincts and intelligent movement with a finishing ability that has seen him score goals at a frenzy. His versatility means he can play wide, just behind the striker or as the leading man in attack, the latter of which he has so far preferred.
Ajax could land the young lad and become their backup striker for the next season and then in few years time could become their main man upfront which could fetch more profit in the future should they sign him for €7m this summer.
